Absolutely agree. There's no point of playing any game/sim without having fun.If there's just tenths of seconds differences, it's indistinguishable IMHO from someone being slightly better than you and you can have a great time trying to beat him/her. There's nothing to be gained from the hotlap competitions other than having fun trying to beat other times that are close to yours, lives are not at stake
Absolutely agree.
But, I don't think there are "problem cases", the problem is global IMO, who can say the problem is only related to overclocking? maybe the times are related depending on the standard CPU clock, the faster CPU clock the faster you will be, that's what I think really.
It's pointless trying to beat someone if the timer is not fixed, maybe he has a faster CPU than you.
Right now, just tenths of seconds differences don't mean someone is slightly better than other since there's a timer bug, if there's a prize to be gained in this "Mystery Hot Lap Competition" it's not the right time IMO, in fact, and in my opinion again, there would be a prized competition only when the timer and track cutting detection are fixed and if there are two prizes, one for aids users and another one for non aids users. If there's just tenths of seconds differences, it's indistinguishable IMHO from someone being slightly better than you and you can have a great time trying to beat him/her. I'm sad because this timer bug is a serious one and spoils the fun on trying to beat other times but I'm sure SMS will fix it as soon as possible, we're here to help if needed anyway.

I dont think thats the case, atleast not with all cpu:s. I tested it few weeks back and my laptimes were identical cpu at stock compared 4.7GHz with SB 2500K, same thing with this current ivybridge 3570K 4.5ghz oc vs stock 3.8. But that could be the case with cpu:s that has locked multiplier and therefore needs baseclock/bus speed to be increased when overcloking.

Clock speed has nothing to do with it. High Precision Event Timers(HPET) do however. Especially on Intel CPU's.I dont think thats the case, atleast not with all cpu:s.
