It's true that Mitsubishi themselves tend to focus more on rallying but check out the Time Attack series and the AAA Saloon Cup for some heavily modified Evos on track. Alternatively, MSA which I know there are some in or my car club's very own sprint series, the MLRSS.

I'd be more happy if it was an RWD car.
In all the sims I've driven so far, AWD's are either bloody boring to drive, or they shred their tires like hell, so you always have to drive below the actual limit of the car to make the tires last long enough.
