Loved my 3DFX card back in the day - I had a 6mb Voodoo and in a later machine a Voodoo 3 - just a shame that Nvidia came along and were so much cheaper. ATi produced decent cards and crappy drivers back then and as far as I know, are still producing the same quality of drivers today under the AMD brand :P

I find their drivers pretty decent these days. Don't have to keep switching driver versions to play different games like I did when I was with Nvidia, where older drivers would give better performance if you didn't have the latest generation of cards.
My last Nvidia card was a Geforce 7800GT so maybe they have improved.

Me too. I can still think of some console titles ported to PC with such care.
And all of these texture improvements were - mindblowing.

Less then a year ago I've made a mistake of buying a notebook with Radeon 'powered' graphics.
ATi's driver support for non-windoze platforms was still atrocious back then.
Considering their updates and the damage they've inflicted along, I'd be extremely suprised if the recent driver improvements made it anywhere closer to the 'usable' level.

Yep, usually I tack 1936 on the end of my gaming tags. Guess I'm beginning to feel self-conscious,lol. A lot of guys used to come into GRID for instance with 1970 or so as a tag suffix. I figured ok, I'll out myself and add my year suffix to show them up. Yeah, there's some of us old seniors that still have the reflexes. Maybe not as good as 10 or 20 years ago, but still hanging in there. As a matter of fact, I rode a dirt bike until 70. When my butthole started to pucker on the seat I figured I had better quit, though everytime I hear a big bore thumper in the neighborhood it brings a tear to my eye.

And OMG, what game is worse than rFactor, just the game menu and set-up was a freaking nightmare.

Whoa, I think we need to set-up a separate lounge for members with such respectable age. Extra comfy pushbuttons and first-row seats for new postings or something like that

I'm still suspicious of maddawg's age . I don't know any 70+ folk that say 'OMG' so either he's a fake or he's truly 'down with teh kidz' (spelling mistake entirely intentional ).

I'm only joking by the way. Got to give kudos to a septuagenarian PC gamer . And here's me feeling sorry for myself just turning 40 .
