Ace work @ Andy (petrolhd, I suppose) and Mark - and of course SMS! You can all be proud of your achievements! :D

The licence for the series doesnt automatically include Dubai, Yas Marina and Sepang and they d have to be licenced separately, right? If so: Is SMS trying to get those track licenses for a really thorough representation of the FG1000 series?

Tiago Fortuna
25-06-2012, 15:53
Yeah... because of the FG1000 series... ... yeah because of that :p

Great news guys. We were aware that the Gulf 1000 license was being worked on behind the scenes and again big thanks to petrolhd, but it is good that everybody knows we have our first licensed series.
New Zealand is new though and really interesting with all those layouts, so thanks to Mark for that.
Can't wait to have a go at them.

Good news this car and track licenses. Does Formula Gulf would be similar to Formula C category?

Mihail Serafim
25-06-2012, 17:09
The Formula Gulf sits somewhere between the Formula Rookie and the Formula B. It should be pretty similar to a Formula Three, GP3, F3000 car with a bit less power (150bhp vs. 200+) but also less weight (400kg vs. 550+kg).

Alex Hobbs
25-06-2012, 17:24
As angel said, this is a good step between the formula rookie and the FB. Thanks to all involved!

This is great news, love these lower end FCars. FRookie has been a blast, you can have really good battles on track with the AI so when MP arrives this should be outstanding. Now we can battle higher up with the FGulf cars and they use shifters rather than paddles, oh yes :)

pssssst ... the hyperlink to http://fg1000.net/slider/report-sepang-test/ on the Portal page is broke and needs fixing.

Awesome, I'm looking forward to the Formula Gulfs a lot, they look like great fun to drive and race with. It will be very cool if we see the series' two tracks, Dubai and Yas Marina :)

Ruapana Park is also a very nice announcement, great to see another track to use the V8 Falcons on.

Inshallah! I hope it will be Dubai or Sepang... I hate Yas Marina. Its like a sandy, more confusing version of Oschersleben. :a36:

Great news! Maybe this will bring some more middle eastern players to the project as well. I bet there aren't many sims featuring Formula Gulf.

Congrats PetrolHD and big thanks to SMS and Suzy for making this happen!

I am sure SMS didn't expect this kind of community involvement and they could have easily said
Thanks guys but leave it to us! so it is great that the SMS have embraced the community involvement in all areas!

Thanks to everyone that has been so supportive of my efforts.

Here is hoping there is one more announcement from New Zealand sometime soon :)

Scott Coffey
25-06-2012, 23:37
This announcement is a good example of what makes this process great. It's good to see the members bringing so much to this project.

I wonder how fast this will get created, the Formula Rookie just came out so I guess the priority may be low

26-06-2012, 01:57
First 'community aided licensed track' then? :a39:

Andrew Clark
26-06-2012, 02:24
Well the only thing I could do to improve this car would be to put a Kawasaki Motor in it instead of a Suzuki but that's just me. Looking forward to driving it on the new track for sure thanks to those involved to secure the licenses.

Andrew Clark
26-06-2012, 02:26
They probably have been working on this for a while since they have known the license was secure now for some time but the legal paper work probably was just finalized recently.

I wonder how fast this will get created, the Formula Rookie just came out so I guess the priority may be low

Sean Powless
26-06-2012, 02:37
The only license that came with work done (barring the Lotus's) was Pagani, though. So I won't hold my faith that its even been started yet :P

Dan Blamey
26-06-2012, 02:54
What I love about this licensing method is that we are getting some truly unique content into the game. It's a 'AAA' level game but with unique content the community are making possible, not just the standard mix of 'best of' cars and tracks. Can't wait to drive these additions.

Big thanks to the guys that helped this happen!

If you have any questions about the FG1000 single seater, its performance or specification, or the Formula Gulf 1000 championship, I would be happy to answer them.

The car may not come with a well known manufacturer's label like F.BMW or F.Renault, but it has great heritage. The constructor and designer of the car are well known in the motorsport industry:

Ralf Firman.
After running Emerson Fittipaldi in F3 (who went on to become F1 World Champion) Ralph created Van Diemen. Some 5,000 single seater and sports racing cars were produced. Ralph ran Ayrton Senna to win both British and European F.Ford Championships.

David Baldwin.
Was instrumental in designing the famous Lotus 59 and Lotus 69 F2 and F3 cars in the late 1960s. During the 1970s he worked at Team Lotus and McLaren F1 before becoming a Director of Van Diemen. Clearly, David designed the FG1000 based on a huge amount of experience of what makes a great driver's car.

Can't wait to test the car in Project CARS!

Info at www.facebook.com/gulfsportracing where we have thousands of eager 'fans' who will no doubt be very interested in your great work!
