Great news, thanks SMS! :)

It was just yesterday as I watched a Top Gear episode where they drove the Noble M600, the Lamborghini Aventador and the McLaren MP4-12C through Italy (they even did a time trial on Imola circuit).

Can't wait to beat James May's (alias Mr. Slow) time with the McLaren 12C on Imola in pCARS. :D

Unless one of the McLarens is about to pop into the game, I'm guessing this still isn't the secret work you've been teasing us about??? :)

Casey, any new tech needed for these puppies?

Yep! With the P1 alone you have active aero, turbos, active suspension (we'll see how much this is needed after testing) and a hybrid system, for which I just last night realized we don't yet have a full plan.

Doesn't the 98T and Evo have active suspension as well? As well as maybe other cars. Plus it seems to be getting more popular with the more modern cars. So maybe making a system for it won't be a bad idea.
The hybrid system will be an interesting one. If only we had a full electric vehicle as well, that way we could separately test the electric drive system, unless that would be a whole different ball game altogether.

What they all said..

"How thoroughly splendid"

"How thoroughly splendid indeed, old chap!"

(you are the FIREWIRE of old, aren't you? Your humour gets me every time :D)

At some point, someone at Maranello, Stuttgart and Ingolstadt respectively are going to realize what a mistake it was not to join forces with pCARS. And once they do they'll come hat in hand. I expect we will then accept their humble offers oh so graciously.

Yeah, different part of the McLaren Group. So like Lotus indeed.
See it like Licensing Audi from the Volkswagen Group, but you can't get Lamborghini for your game via that license even though it falls under the same group.

I have two questions:
1. Which McLaren from ones that are planned is in group with any car we have currently in game? I mean, are they going to be cars that race in real life together with some of those which we already have?
2. "Project CARS is coming to PC, Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and Wii U in 2014. Check www.wmdportal.com regularly for news, screenshots, and trailers." Ps3 and xbox360? Haven't we abandoned them for Ps4 and x1?

Is that specifically for the PC platform? I know MS claim to have licensed the '76 McLaren for Forza 5, but haven't shown anything yet. It still hobbles SMS either way, but just curious.

Minor? I disagree, especially for the french brand, if you think at Clio and Megane series for pCars and the possibility that this first deal can bring other cars in the future (LMP, Rally, Road). Also Chevrolet is a great brand and covers GRAND-AM and GT series and has cool road cars.
Don't forget Petrolhead and SMS are speaking with the major japanese brand too. :) (that is not Nissan)

Apologies...by minor i meant that on the career proposal, there is only 1 car planned from Renault. I hope we will get more, just meant in terms of volume, not by recognition.

I also forgot Aston Martin as well.

Don't worry. :)
Nissan is a huge and important brand, with big appeal all over the world. But those other two have lot of appeal too and they cover important places in our car-career's plan.
The Renault planned are 4 right now: Clio cup, Megane v6 Trophy, Megane R265 Cup road car, Renault Laguna 1999 BTTC.
And who knows? Maybe two more will come in the future, one old and one modern, but with the same name. :)

Dear Community, Thank you for all your praises and comments. While it was a tough job and effort getting them onboard, it was imperative McLaren joined this project for a number of reasons and they look forward to seeing Project CARS become a great success once its released next year.

We still have a lot to do and my work is buy no means over by a long stretch.. Theres even more exciting news to follow very soon.. :)

Cause that would be something to take into consideration for your following 'jobs'. Of course as a community member (and I hope I can speak for all of us) we wish to be of the least burden to your efforts in expanding this great sim.

Given my good contacts in McLaren and with what PCARS content we already have available to show, you would have thought it would have been pretty easy to secure what we wanted. Not so. Many face to face meetings, all the pitching and countless mails and phone calls we finally got the nod. It also helped we had a couple of completed models to show. Securing licensing is just not easy and can take months of persistent work (even with the right contacts) to yield a successful result.

Our title is now starting to gather quite a lot pace in the market and in contrast to when it was all getting started back over a year ago it is now being taken very seriously indeed. So much so I think we could have the likes of GT6 very worried by next year.

I'll guarantee the community even more exciting good news very soon.. we have many plans afoot and I want to see us being hugely successful when the game finally goes for release next year.

Moved hugh's opinion here regarding car list since it wasnt build related. Continue here if u wish.

Umer's Opinion: we're not fighting GT and Forza on quantity, they can out-budget us easily. We're fighting on quality and distinct selection. So we only have limited slots (Ian would naturally like to increase this limit) and so we aim for iconic (past & present) vehicles. We're not going to have 34 variants of the Corolla <insert your choice Daily Driver>, GT5 fulfills that customer. The chosen McLarens make sense given this context. I see your point about exploring the slower end of the spectrum, perhaps the looming deals with larger non-boutique shops such as GM and Nissan will produce something in the sub-300 or sub-200 HP bracket. Personally i would like to see the Chevy Cruze which dominated the WTCC and there were many good "slower" cars in BTCC members have suggested.

I disagree, I love my GT and would love for more GT cars (to be honest, I'm happy with our lineup currently once we get the Nissan GTR), but before I was massively into motoring I too drooled over supercars like the F1 and 412c, not a clue why but GT didn't interest me. With this in mind we may not particularly like some of the additions, but that doesn't mean they're not beneficial :)

Yes you are right, even the original project not belongs to Nissan but the Panoz.
If I could choose would certainly choose the Delta Wing, an electric car would be nice, but I prefer the sound of the engines, but it is a matter of personal taste.

The ZEOD isn't an electric car. It has a combustion engine that drives the car most of the time. Their idea is to run 12 laps on petrol and then they harvested enough energy through braking that they can do one lap on pure electric power at the same pace. They not allowed to run it as a hybrid though, the driver has to choose if he wants to use petrol or electric power. Another cool thing is that they run both motors through the same gearbox, so you actually have to shift as well when you drive in electric mode.

All in good time..

We will arguably be able to provide a far more authentic racing title/experience than what the larger competition is or will be in their next release to market. Who's saying we're not fighting GT and Forza on quality? and winning.. I pitch our project to a number of organisations who are simply blown away by what they see and we have achieved at Alpha stage of development. Try arguing with 5 Emiratis who are avid GT5 fanatics ..and they are literally gobsmacked at what they are seeing/experiencing. If we can convince them (and we have so far) we will have no trouble at all with anyone else!

If anything our program is proving how inefficient the heavyweights are with such huge budgets and resources, given the tremendous input of our community, which again just goes to reinforce the uniqueness and advantage of C.A.R.S.

McLaren was a key element to achieving a 'one step closer' level of authenticity to this title.. there are many more steps to take and we will achieve each and every one of them one at a time :)
